INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR DONATIONS

TACHELES FOUNDATION is:

1. Keeping, protecting and developing the Kunsthaus Tacheles / Berlin as a self-managed center to produce and present contemporary art works. As a think tank for the integration of new technologies to art, as well their social and cultural implications. As an international venue for the free theater and the dance scene.

2. Management of exhibitions and symposiums, promoting artistic and cultural exchanges at an international level. Establishing the Tacheleschool, organizing exchange projects in an international teaching and scientific framework.

3. Supporting contemporary art and technological development, researching and processing the social impacts of the cultural industry and technology in a parliamentary/democratic consumer society.

Reasons/ Background:

HSH Nordbank, investors and politicians intend to close the Tacheles piece by piece. Berliner politicians archly want to put off the "Kunsthaus problem" after the elections in September. The only remaining choice for the artists is establishing the Tacheles foundation.

The formed Tacheles Foundation community can act as a legal entity to protect the art house.

The reactivation of Tacheles is secured by the Tacheles Foundation and permits to keep Tacheles in the hands of art.

In the board of trustees, well-known personalities from art, culture, science and politics will be addressed.

This Board must be composed under parity principles allowing a permanent process of discussion about the content of the contemporary art house. The "discourse" in and around the Tacheles should be constant and cultivated.

To build the foundation we need a capital of 50 000, - €.

For the donations, a fiducial bank account supervised by a lawyer has been opened. Transparency is an important pillar for Tacheles Foundation: an internet site will be set up to look up the financial conduct of the Foundation iG at anytime.
